The Allied Arts Council of St. Joseph, Missouri exists “to bring arts and people together.” Founded in 1963, the Council is one of the oldest in the State of Missouri and is acknowledged statewide as an arts leader.

The mission of the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Department is to provide for the protection and security of the citizens and visitors to Buchanan County. We are committed to excellence and efficiency in our services, responsibilities and the performance of our duties.
The Police Department is comprised of four divisions: Administration, Patrol, Detectives, and Support Services. While each division has a different mission, each has a common goal, “To provide the best possible police service to the citizens of St. Joseph”. Hotel Patee House was the center of the nation’s Westward expansion from the start of the Pony Express to the death of Jesse James. It was opened by John Patee as a luxurious hotel in 1858 to serve travelers as the railroad pushed west to St. Joseph. The James Home is located directly behind Patee House, and was only two blocks away when outlaw Jesse James was gunned down on April 3,1882.
